Botox® cosmetic is a prescription medicine, also known as a neurotoxin, that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows, also known as the “elevens” or “11’s” in adults.
Botox® cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines and crow’s feet by minimizing or eliminating the muscle contractions form frowning and squinting over the years. Dr. Alvarez will inject these muscles with Botox® to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of the skin.
Dr. Alvarez will also use Botox® in the treatment of facial (TMJ) pain caused by clenching of the teeth. Dr. Alvarez will inject Botox® into your facial muscles called the masseter muscles, that become overgrown and increase the pressure to your teeth when you clench, many times eliminating or lessening tooth clenching, and relieving pain from clenching.
Botox® treatment requires minimal downtime or recovery; and it’s often called a lunchtime procedure. You will be able to go about your normal routine immediately after you leave Dr. Alvarez’s office. You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours after treatment with Botox®, and results can sometimes last up to 4 months or more.
Dr. Alvarez only uses genuine Botox® cosmetic from Allergan, no substitutions, or alternatives, and will open the vial in front of you every time you present for treatment.
Xeomin is a prescription medicine, also known as a neurotoxin, that is injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe wrinkles of the face.
Xeomin, like all neurotoxins targets dynamic wrinkles of the face minimizing or eliminating the muscle contractions form frowning and squinting. Dr. Alvarez will inject these muscles with Xeomin to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of the skin.
Dr. Alvarez will also use Xeomin in the treatment of facial (TMJ) pain caused by clenching of the teeth. Dr. Alvarez will inject Xeomin into your facial muscles called the masseter muscles, that become overgrown and increase the pressure to your teeth when you clench, many times eliminating or lessening tooth clenching, and relieving pain from clenching. It will also provide a slimming effect to your face over time.
Xeomin treatment requires minimal downtime or recovery; and it’s often called a lunchtime procedure. You will be able to go about your normal routine immediately after you leave Dr. Alvarez’s office. You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours after treatment with Xeomin, and results can sometimes last up to 4 months or more.
Dr. Alvarez exclusively uses Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers in the Juvederm® family, made by Allergan. Juvederm® is the #1 selling collection of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers in the United States. Each product in the Juvederm® collection of fillers adds volume to a different area of the face and is used to do things such as lift cheeks, smooth parenthesis lines (nasolabial folds), plump the lips, and others. The results are subtle and long lasting.
The Juvederm® collection of fillers is made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA), and HA is a natural substance in the skin that delivers nutrients, helps the skin retain moisture and softness, and adds volume. Each product in the Juvederm® collection of fillers is made from a modified form of HA depending on its intended purpose.
Dr. Alvarez administers the treatment during a brief office visit.
Juvederm® Voluma® XC, Juvederm® XC, Juvederm® Ultra XC, and Juvederm® Vollure™ XC all contain lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during treatment. If you are still concerned about treatment discomfort, Dr. Alvarez may offer additional anesthetic options for you, including topical creams, traditional lidocaine numbing, or nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
