Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen-induction therapy is a nonsurgical treatment that penetrates your skin’s surface with tiny needles in order to create thousands of superficial wounds, or micro-injuries that stimulate the production of the body’s own collagen, elastin, and other growth factors. Microneedling is a form of fractional treatment, which means that only a fraction of the skin's surface is affected. In addition, to stimulating collagen, the micro-channels created by microneedling allow for better penetration of things such as growth factors, PRP, hyaluronic acid, and other topical vitamins and supplement serums when used at time of treatment.

Microneedling with the MDPen at our Midtown Manhattan, New York medical spa can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks, as well as helping with evening of skin tone (including improving melasma), refining enlarged pores, tightening skin, and fading scars (such as those from acne), without subjecting the patient to the pain and down time associated with lasers or other more intense treatments.

It typically takes 3-4 microneedling sessions, typically 4-6 weeks apart in order to see long lasting results. The results do require maintenance 2-3 times per year.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

  • Low cost compared to other treatments such as lasers and IPL.
  • The treatment is quick at our Midtown Manhattan medical spa and only takes about 15-20 minutes after being numbed with topical anesthetic cream
  • It is minimally invasive, requiring little to no downtime. At most, recovery time is usually just a few days, depending on the amount of treatment received and area treated (some areas such as the eyes may bruise).
  • It’s considered safe for most people who are in overall good health.
  • It’s considered effective in treating minor scarring related to acne, wounds, and aging.
  • Microneedling with MDPen doesn’t involve the delivery of heat, so it’s safe to use on all skin types without the risk of pigmentation issues that can accompany laser and IPL.
  • Microneedling provides both short- and long-term benefits.
  • The treatment can be customized to treat localized problem areas, such as scars, dark undereye circles, crow’s feet, and neck or chest lines.
  • Though typically used on the face, neck, chest, and hands, microneedling can be done all over the body, such as for the reduction of stretch marks.
  • It can be used by itself or as a complement to laser treatment.

Microneedling with MDPEN

What is MDPen?

MDPen, available at our Midtown Manhattan, New York medical spa is the world's most powerful microneedling device, and is the latest innovation in Fractional Microdermal Needling. Innovative and effective, MDPen activates your body’s natural cellular regeneration to help tighten and lift skin, while minimizing many common skin problems.

MDPen™ treatments result in minimal downtime and can be performed on most areas of the face and body, including the hands, lips, neck, décolletage, thighs, back, buttocks, and abdomen.

MDPen is not like an at-home dermal roller.  MDPen™ is an automated, non-surgical microneedling device designed for use by licensed healthcare practitioners or individuals directed by these practitioners.

MDPen is a MicroNeedling device that moves at speeds up to 17,500 RPM creating 15,000 micro channels per square inch for maximum coverage and a more complete treatment.

MDPen MicroNeedling is used for skin revitalization and can be used in conjunction with other treatments. MDPen treatments are non-ablative, do not cause trauma to the skin, and are a safe, effective tool in an anti-aging skin care regimen. Sun avoidance is not required after treatment, however sun protection is always recommended.
